Powertec Utility Bench Review : Get the Most out of Your Workouts!
Are you in the market for a utility bench for your home gym? In this Powertec utility bench review, we’ll dive into the details and show you how it can take your workouts to the next level. Choosing the right bench for your weight workouts is important if you want the intensity needed to build muscle, get stronger, and shred bodyfat.
Before we go into details, you can find more reviews and current price of this bench on Amazon.com here.
A good utility bench should last you a long time, adjust to multiple angles for hitting different muscles, be easy to move, and have enough support so you can lift some serious weight. A cheap, flimsy bench just won’t do it.
Features and Benefits
You can use it Anywhere
The Powertec Utility bench can be used in a power rack or Smith Machine, standalone with dumbbells, or for abdominal exercises and bodyweight exercises.
600 lbs Weight Limit
The bench has a 600 lbs combined user and resistance limit, making it safe to use with heavy weights during your workouts.
Adjustable Seat and Back Pad
The bench is equipped with an adjustable back and seat pad. You can work flat, declined, or inclined, and everywhere in between. You can do decline bench presses, flat bench presses, incline bench presses, and overhead presses. You can also use it for core exercises, support for dumbbell rows, and for step ups and lunges.
Add-on accessories can be purchased for increased variety
This bench has a unique add-on feature which can add variety and get you gym quality workouts with minimal equipment. Just snap it on and go. The add-ons are sold separately.
Wheels on the back to make it easy to move in and out of the squat rack, Smith Machine, dumbbell area, or wherever you want it.
Here is a good video illustrating the different uses of the bench.
Who Would Benefit From This Bench
This bench would be good for the beginner to intermediate lifter. It would be good for a home or garage gym, and the Powertec work bench will be a nice addition to a squat rack, Smith Machine, and/or dumbbell set.
With that being said, if you are a very advanced powerlifter, you weigh over 300 lbs, and/or you move some really heavy weights, you would probably do better with something that has a higher rated weight limit (see alternatives section).
Pricing and purchase details
This bench is right around average in the intermediate utility bench category. There are more expensive options, and there are lower priced options, but this bench is nice mix of value and price.
In the sections below you can find the alternatives, pros and cons, and final verdict to help you make your final decision. Remember to make your decision based on your individual needs, and also your needs in the future.
- Can be used in a squat rack or Smith Machine, with dumbbells, or for bodyweight and core exercises
- Separate accessories can be purchased and added on to the bench (leg extension, curl machine, etc.)
- 600 lbs weight limit
- Adjustable seat and back pad
- Wheels make it easy to move
- 600 lbs weight restriction may not be enough for some people (powerlifters, etc.)
- The bench is heavy (I’d rather it be heavy than flimsy)
- Set-up instructions can be confusing

Rep Adjustable Bench
This is a bench in the same price range, but it has a 1000 lb weight limit, and it might be better for those who weigh more and/or are using heavier weights. View on Amazon.com
CAP Barbell Deluxe Utility Weight Bench
Cap Barbell bench is a value priced utility bench good for those just starting out or those who use lighter weights. View on Amazon.com
The Verdict: a good Value for the Price
The Powertec adjustable bench is a bench that provides lots of value for the price.
If you’re a beginner or intermediate lifter with a squat rack, power rack, Smith Machine, or dumbbell set, this bench would be a good fit for you. The only people this bench wouldn’t be good for is very advanced lifters such as competitive powerlifters, Olympic lifters, and bodybuilders, as they would need a bench with a higher weight limit.
