Not that she needs an introduction, but Roxy Jacenko, owner of Sydney-based PR firm Sweaty Betty, is pretty much killing it at this thing called life. Not only does she run multiple successful businesses, she is a mother of two gorgeous children, Pixie and Hunter – and somehow, somehow still manages to make it to the gym in the morning.

Always impeccably dressed with a tote in hand, she has created quite a name for herself thanks to her unapologetic attitude and undeniable work ethic. Read on to find out how it’s just all in a day’s work for this superstar mum.

How would you describe yourself in a single sentence?

A hustler.

Take us through your current fitness routine.

I train with Ben Lucas at Flow Athletic in Paddington, three times a week. We do resistance and weight training only.

How did you first get into fitness? Have you always led such an active life?

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 – this saw me have a partial removal and subsequent radiation every day for a six week period. It was important to get myself into a much more active and healthy lifestyle off the back of this.

What is the biggest lesson you learnt in your experience of overcoming breast cancer?

That life is short and make the most of it!

As a busy mum and business owner, how do you stay motivated to exercise?

It’s become something I LOVE doing. It’s 45 minutes where I just forget about the million things I need to do and focus on just training hard and the quest for a four pack!

What does health mean to you?

Having two small children, it’s everything. I have a responsibility to be around for them so I now take my health seriously, before I didn’t really bother with healthy eating and was very happy to run myself into the ground as long as all my work was done.

How do you find balance with such a hectic schedule?

I don’t think I have found a balance yet, let’s call it a work in progress! It’s hard, I have three companies to run; Sweaty Betty PR, The Ministry of Talent and Pixie’s Bows, not to mention a husband, two children and over 25 staff. That said, whilst I may not have the perfect balance I am happy, my children are happy and business is booming!

What does your typical day on a plate look like?

I am extremely regimented when It comes to my diet. I have one slice of toast with vegemite for breakfast and a skim piccolo. Lunch is one plate of cooked tuna mini rolls, a plate of kingfish or salmon sashimi and two prawns (boiled) on rice.

You’ve got quite an impressive activewear wardrobe! What are some non-negotiables when selecting the right activewear?

Fabric is really important when choosing. I hate anything that doesn’t breathe, it makes training so uncomfortable! I also like crop tops with adjustable straps!

You started Sweaty Betty when you were 24 years old. What advice do you have for any young female entrepreneur with the desire to start their own business?

Understand the back end of your business, it’s as important as the front – be willing to take risks and push the boundaries. If you want to succeed, doing what the person next to you is doing and offering, isn’t going to get you very far – have a point of difference.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received and what would you pass down to your children, Pixie and Hunter?

That if you want something in life, you work for it! No one will do it for you!

What would a conversation between you and the paparazzi sound like?

[Laughs] I know most of the Sydney ones by name now. I get it, they have a job to do, it’s not personal, it’s just a job so I am always, well most of the time, very polite and friendly because no one wins any friends by being rude or offhand!

Who would you say is your biggest inspiration and why?

Mum – She’s been through her fair share of shit and picks herself up, keeps going and hustles harder!

What is your response to trolls on social media that have negative things to say about your parenting style and how you live your life?

Fuck off and worry about yourself!
