Work from home due to Coronavirus-Learn how to remain fit
The recent crisis brought by Covid-19 has pushed us all to work from home. Companies, fearing for their employees, have come up with innovative ways to ensure business continuity while making sure that employees stay at home, and more importantly, stay safe.
While most of us are enjoying the change of pace and opportunity to spend more time with our loved ones, some of us are worried that sitting at home will turn us into what we fear the most – a couch potato.
To fight this ever-present feeling that you are getting fat, here are 7 exercises that can help you stay fit to ensure that you can enjoy eating what you want with your family:
1. Lunges
Challenge your balance, promote functional movement, while also increasing strength in your legs and glutes.
2. Pushups
One of the most basic but effective bodyweight moves you can perform because of the number of muscles that are recruited to perform them. If the standard pushup form is too challenging, drop down to a modified stance on your knees. This still reaps many of the benefits of the exercise while building strength.

3. Squats
Increase flexibility in your lower back and hips while improving lower body and core strength with squats. They also burn a lot of calories by engaging some of the largest muscles in the body.
4. Burpees
We have always had a love-hate relationship with this one because of the amount of effort it takes. They are super effective and provide great RoI for cardiovascular endurance and muscle strength.
Side planks: These help you build a strong core which is at the foundation of a healthy body. For a more effective workout, learn to focus on the mind-muscle connection and controlled movements while doing side planks.

6. Sit-ups
Mostly focused around your abs, they are a great way to stay in shape while at home. In case you suffer from lower back problems, work only on crunches, which requires your upper back and shoulders to lift off the ground.
7. Glute bridge
They work across your entire posterior chain, keeping your back in shape.
Combine them into a 30 minute routine for a workout that is simple yet powerful and you’ll soon start feeling fit in no time.
While these exercises help you keep your body fit, you can do a lot more by investing a small amount in a pair of dumbbells. We will soon be covering them in a future article. Keep watching this space for more.
